DIY Nursing Tanks

Early in my pregnancy, I came across the Undercover Mama Nursing Tops. I absolutely loved how they hooked onto any nursing bra and made it possible to nurse while wearing regular tops and tees. What I didn't like was the $25 price tag. Sometime thereafter I came across this tutorial for DIYing a cheap alternative. So I pinned it and stashed the idea away in my things to do before Minion list.
This definitely was one of the last items I needed to get done before his arrival but I kept holding off on finding the perfect tanks to use. Fortunately, LivingSocial had a great deal on 10 camis for $29. With a 15% off promo code from ebates, I was able to knock my total down to $26.45 or $2.65/cami. There is definitely no beating that price!

What I liked the most about these tanks was how soft they are and that the spaghetti straps were perfect for doing this project. This seriously is a 5 minute DIY that requires no sewing and uses items you already have in the house.

What You Will Need:

  • Spaghetti Strap Tank with Adjustable Straps on the front side of the tank
  • Scissors
  • Clear Nail Polish
What You Will Do:
  • I started by sliding the adjustable clip thing all the way to the front about 1" from the end of the strap. Make sure both straps are even.
  • Now just cut the strap off at the back of the tank as close to the edge as possible.
  • Going back to the front, tie a knot as close to the sliding clip as possible. Pull it tight and slide the clip up as close to it as it will go.
  • Cut off the remaining tail of the strap above the knot.
  • Apply clear nail polish all over the knot to prevent fraying and it coming undone.
  • Now you should have a loop on each side of the tank that will perfectly slip onto the straps of your nursing bra :)

Wasn't that easy? I ended up converting 7 of the tanks I got and I am so excited to start using them.
