A Bridal Shower & AEDM Day #6

So today was the "Breakfast at Tiffany's" bridal I have been planning for a couple months now. I am thoroughly exhausted but I think it was a success. I just wanted to write a quick post to share the pictures and if anyone is interested in printables of the favor labels and invitations I designed just let me know and I'll try to post the pdf downloads.

The shower was held in the clubhouse at our apartment complex which has a room set up like a big living room with various end tables and couches and chairs and such. So we had 5 little spreads like these with different pictures from the movie and candles set around them. I loved how they turned out and got lots of compliments.

This was the food buffet table with our homemade Tiffany box mini cakes, Shipley's donut tower, home-brewed southern sweet tea, and other finger foods and punch brought by some friends.

I think the cakes turned out super cute and everyone took the extras home so I wasn't stuck with any.

I ended up using baby food jars for the hot cocoa favors. This saved me tons because I got 30 jars for $10. Although next time I might get these super cute mini jars The Christmas Tree Shoppe has for only $.50 each. I used a quote from the movie for the label: "People do fall in love, people do belong to each other..."

One of the games was to divide the group into teams of 3 and have everyone work on a different part of a newspaper wedding dress. Then the bride modeled the dress for us. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a good picture of the back which is a shame because the pleated train was my idea.

Here's the full list of the games we played...

WHO AM I? - Tiffany Lovers game - 1 Prize Winner
As each guest arrives at the bridal shower, tape an ID card on her back with the name of a celebrity who has been spotted wearing Tiffany’s. Instruct her not to ask anything about her card or say something about someone else’s just yet. Once all the guests arrive, announce that everyone has to guess who their card is by asking others yes or no questions. The winner is the first person to correctly guess the identity of their ID card and confirm it with me.

The Ring Game - 1 Prize Winner
When each guest comes into the party, hand them a ring to put on. Then, if someone hears another person saying "wedding," they get to take that person's ring. The person with the most rings at the end of the party wins.

The Bride's Poem
Start off by writing a sentence about the bride (or bride and groom) as if it were the first line of a poem. Then pass it around the room. Each guest must write down the next line of the poem, following the previous line as logically as possible. Then, she folds the sheet of paper over, so that the next guest only sees the line last written. The maid of honor or hostess reads the wacky poem once the sheet is full. We did one of these for every guest and some were sweet and some were hilarious but it was a lot of fun.

What’s in your Purse? - 1 Prize Winner
The host reads a list of items you may or may not have in your purse. For each item that you do have, write down the number of points the host says it is worth. The person with the highest points at the end of the game wins.

Cockney Rhyming Slang Game - 1 Prize Winner
Cockney is based on the use of phrases that rhyme with the word you actually mean. An example is "Frog & Toad" really means "Road" or "Pork Pies" really means "Lies." The host will say 10 cockney phrases and each guest will write down what they think she means in plain English. Whoever gets the most correct wins.

Newspaper Wedding Dress
The shower guests are divided into teams. Each team is given scissors, tape, and a stack of newspapers. They are tasked to make just one part of the wedding gown: sleeve, bodice, train, skirt, veil, shoes, etc. The bride then must wear the gown over her clothing and pose for a picture.
