Borderlands {May 31}

Innovative design wasn't something that is normally associated with the Valley. However, the new McAllen Public Library is breaking that. Built in 2012, the library sits in what was an old abandoned Walmart, making it the largest single-floor public library in the US and gaining it national recognition. It has been featured in The New York Times and on Apartment Therapy. It also won the overall prize for the 2012 Library Interior Design Awards.

Borderlands is an ongoing photography project that features anecdotes from our life in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
