Sponsored Post: U by Kotex {Warning! this may get a little TMI}

As my title suggests, this post might get a little TMI or make some feel uncomfortable. So if you are my father-in-law, you can stop reading now :) (Love you, JD!) But if you are a lady between the ages of 10-45, then this post is for you!

When I was contacted about working with U by Kotex, I was over the moon. They are one of those dream companies that I have always loved and all my girlfriends can tell you I am a huge U fan :)

You see, I was an early bloomer, like a 10 yo early bloomer. Right off my mom tried to encourage me to wear tampons since she swore by them, but I was never comfortable with the idea. Fast forward to that next summer and my BFF's annual pool party and Aunt Flo hit with all her full-blown awful glory. After an hour of tearful attempts at trying to use a tampon with my mom before the party, my friend's mom took the reigns and helped me do it while mildly scarring me emotionally. We still laugh about the things she said to me that day. And with all that trauma, I swore to only use them when I would go swimming.

A couple summers later, I actually had to teach my BFF how to use one while we were camping. It's funny how life seems to turn full circle.

Well, it wasn't until I was 17, that I decided to start wearing tampons exclusively. And with that came even more wicked awkward experiences. There was the time my friend only had the cardboard applicator kind (OMG! Painful!), or the dozens of times the applicator would pop out in the middle of a public restroom stall and I had to fumble to try to reassemble it. There were also the embarrassing times when I was in mixed company at a friend's house and had to go to the bathroom but felt awkward taking my huge purse but didn't want anyone to see the tampon in my hand O_O

As you can see, my years of being a card-carrying *woman* have been filled with trials and tribulations. But then in 2010, the skies got clearer. I was newly married and somehow came across an offer to receive a free trial of the new U by Kotex Click tampons. They were a compact tampon that extended into a full size with a click of the applicator. Plus the applicator was made out of smooth plastic with an insertion-friendly tip. And although purely aesthetic, I am a sucker for great packaging and loved the bold, fun colors. I was in L-O-V-E!

Gone were the days of a tampon falling apart on me in the bathroom stall. Gone were the days of trying to hide a big tampon in my hand. Gone were the days of inserting a tampon being a *drag*.  Gone were the days of feeling like a gross, old lady because now my tampons looked cute and cool.

Oh and that always ever-present fear of the string detaching on removal, that was gone too! Plus without getting too TMI, I have always suffered from a very, very, HEAVY period and leaks were always a concern. But with U that was also gone :)

I loved them and swore by them and told every lady I met that they should be using U by Kotex tampons. And my love has never ceased for the last 3 years. At times I have deviated and used others, but I always come back to U. Plus in our area they are the cheapest on the market which is incredible when you consider what a great product they are.

And now they have released a new product too, the U by Kotex Sleek tampons. These are a slim full-size tampon with a no-slip grip for “just right” placement. They, of course, have the same great quality and protection and the truly *sleek* packaging is another pull at my heart. And if I wasn't a die-hard compact girl, I would probably use these exclusively myself.

So when U by Kotex asked me to "Do the Demo," to see for myself about how well their tampons worked with my lifestyle, I already knew. What was nice though about my demo, it that it was during our trip to Europe. Since we packed super light, I was carrying all my toiletries in my backpack.

Since U by Kotex Click tampons are so compact, the entire box could fit along with a box of their liners in one of my backpack's side pockets. So I was able to be prepared for when my period would strike on our trip.
If you haven't tried U by Kotex tampons yet, absolutely try them on your next cycle! You can request a free sample here. And the lovely ladies over at U by Kotex would love to hear your thoughts either on their Facebook page or via Twitter.

I wrote this review while participating in a content series through Clever Girls Collective on behalf of U by Kotex, and received products to facilitate my post and compensation for my time to participate.
